why using r as geographers?
i would like to introduce u some of the advantages of r, as follows:
1. R helps all users to use huge databse with any number of rows and columns. With excel, u can use a maximum number of 255 columns in one sheet. In spss, u can not calculate correlation coefficient for more than 100 variables.
2. With r, u can download some geostatistical packages where u can link the ouputs of your statistical analyses with maps u already imported in r.
3. With r, u can make some advanced analyses which are not available in any other statistical software such as glm (generalized linear model)
4.with r, u used the minimum limits of your ram since u can download the packages u need only to make some analyses and then remove all of them when u do not need and download others.
